ABSTRACT
Three hundred and six fish comprising 83 species were examined for ascaridoid larvae during the period from October 1992 to September 1995. Thirty eight fishes (10.5%) belonging to 22 species were infected with 9 types of ascaridoid third-stage larvae: Anisakis simplex, Terranova sp., Contracacum sp. and 6 different types of Hysterothylacium sp. (KA-KF). Hysterothylacium larvae (including all types) were found in all of the infected fishes except one (97.3%); Terranova larvae were found in 12 fishes (3 1 . 5 % , 12 species); Anisakis simplex larvae occurred in 2 fishes (5.2%, 2 species) and Contracaecum sp. larvae in one fish only.
