ABSTRACT
Usually, transmissivity of aquifers is calculated by evaluating aquifer test data However due to the difficulty of carrying out such tests in addition to their relatively high costs it is often calculated from specific capacity data In this work an empirical relationship is derived using 101 pairs of transmissivity and specific capacity values which are obtained from pumping test analyses of groundwater wells penetrating the Moghra Aquifer System in the northern part of Western Desert, Egypt. Linear and logarithmic regression functions have been performed, and it has been found that the logarithmic relationship, predicting transmissivity from the specific capacity values, has a greater correlation coefficient (r = 0.93) than the linear relationship (r = 0.82). This relationship can be justified because transmissivity and specific capacity are log-normally distributed.
