ABSTRACT
Three different transfer function models are proposed for a large synchronous generator connected to an infinite bus through a transmission line. The first proposed model represents the complete system block diagram including exciters approximate model, the second model represents a complete system block diagram with existing exciters real model, and the third model represents the block diagram of the system including exciters real model with stabilised signal from the generator speed. In order to compare the response of the proposed models over a wide range of operating conditions, digital simulations are performed for the system subject to unit step response for the operating initial conditions. The variations in the mechanical torque, power angle, speed, and terminal voltage are plotted and discussed for the proposed models.
