ABSTRACT
A case study consisting of two types of concrete making and placing methods in Kuwait housing, using ready-mixed concrete and site-mixed concrete, were investigated. The strength development and the water penetrability of these concretes were monitored. The analysis of results indicates that the initial cost savings realized by employing on-site concrete-making practices lead to a less durable concrete. If a comparable quality of site-mixed concrete is required, the savings in material cost would be nominal, if any.
