On-line identification of a boiler modelled by matrix fraction description using samples of input/output data

ABSTRACT

A simple and easily implementable algorithm for on-line real-time identification of multivariable industrial processes is presented.  It is assumed that the system is modelled by left coprime matrix fraction description (MFD).  The algorithm is based on well established least squares techniques for single-input single-out-put  systems.  The proposed algorithm is recursive and it produces linear models directly from test data obtained during normal operation of the plant under consideration.  The implementation of the algorithm has been illustrated by identifying a dynamic model of a boiler used in the petroleum industries.  T he results of the validation of the model against the plant data prove the feasibility of the proposed identification procedure.
