ABSTRACT
Glucose dehydrogenase activity in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803 is inducible upon the addition of D-glucose to a culture medium of growing cells, with the activity increasing with time. A mutant strain of Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803 carrying an interrupted gdhB gene was created but no loss of glucose dehydrogenase activity was detected in the phenotype indicating the presence of another gene(s) encoding the active protein.
