ABSTRACT
An analytical solution to a moderately thick orthotropic cylindrical panel with all-edge clamped boundary condition is presented. The orthotropic behavior may be due to the introduction of orthotropic materials, stiffners with dissimilar properties or different flexural reinforcements in orthognal directions. A boundary discontinuous double Fourier series based solution approach is applied. This approach manipulates the discontinuities of solution functions or their derivatives at the edges. Such manipulation gives rise to unknown coefficients, and eventually, obtains a total number of unknowns in the system equal to a total number of algebraic equations. This solution approach is found to be more efficient than that of the previously reported boundary continuous solution approach both in general, and at the edges. The normalized numerical results thus presented for various parametric effects may serve as bench-mark solutions for future comparisons.
