ABSTRACT
This paper presents the results of an experimental program designed to study the effect of the different exciting dynamic loads on Ottawa Sand dynamic parameters, namely, shear
modulus, Youngs modulus and damping. In addition to the routine sinusoidal excitation,
random and impulse loads were studied. The effect of the coupled torsional and longitudinal modes on the dynamic parameters was also investigated. In this study, it was demonstrated that in the resonant column specimens, vertical response was associated with pure torsional excitation and vice versa.
