ABSTRACT
A study has been made of the kinetics of thermal decomposition of Kuwaiti oolitic limestone. The reaction rate constant could be expressed as
k = 9.55 x 105 exp(-17600/T)
Impurities present with calcium carbonate in the oolitic limestone did not interfere in the determination of the activation energy. At higher temperatures silica will probably react with lime and thus this limestone would not be suitable for cement manufacture.
