ABSTRACT
The paper gives an appraisal of sabkha soils in the State of Kuwait and describes some of the pavement design problems. It gives pavement design parameters obtained from a study of the part played by sabkha subgrade soil materials. It also examines both laboratory and field results. The laboratory results include the resilient modulus test, CBR values, and peak shear stress ratio (on a shear box at 10 KN/m2 vertical stress). Field results include measurements of the dynamic deflection parameters from both dynaflect results and a simple impact hammer test.
