Direct flexural design of fully prestressed concrete members

ABSTRACT
This paper presents a procedure which achieves, with fair accuracy, a quick preliminary design of prestressesd concrete flexural members. The method utilises a combined analytical-graphical solution through the application of formulas and charts for the dimensioning of the most commonly used beam shapes. The derivation of these design expedients is detailed. Recommendations for selecting the dimensions and other related properties of typical concrete sections are given. Numerical examples intended to demonstrate how the formulas, tables and charts can be used are worked out. All symbols used in the text are defined in Appendix C.
