Prof. Dr. Nawaf Al-Mutairi- the Acting President of the University of Kuwait attended the meeting of the Academic Publication Council that was held on 23/4/2024. He honored the distinguished level of the academic achievement reached by the scientific journals, the Authorship, Translation and Publication Committee, and the Center for Gulf and Arabian Peninsula Studies.
In his speech, he emphasized that Kuwait University is not just a place where knowledge is taught and received; rather, it is a shining example of boundless creativity and thought, furthermore Kuwait University's duty is to create culture, enlighten society, enrich knowledge, spread it, and export it to scientific circles abroad. He also stated that the Academic Publication Council is one of the university's highest academic councils and that it is supported by the university community. Finally, he expressed gratitude to the Council members for their outstanding work and wished them luck and success.
In addition, Prof. Dr. Othman Al-Khader, the Acting Vice President for Research and Chairman of the Scientific Publication Council, provided a comprehensive explanation of the Scientific Publication Council’s project under the name “The Roadmap to Scopus” and the diligent effort to qualify journals to implement the requirements for joining this famous database through the creation of a quality list of solid journals to adhere to. , which was taken by the Association of Arab Universities to evaluate peer-reviewed Arab scientific journals for the year 2023, which reached up to 612 journals within the Arab Impact Factor project.
At the end of the meeting, Prof. Dr. Nawaf Al-Mutairi, the Acting President of the University, honored Mr. Sami Al-Wahaibi - Manager of the Scientific Publication Council, Prof. Dr. Sami Habib - Acting editor-in-chief of the Journal of Engineering Research, Prof. Dr. Shafiqah Al-Awadhi - Editor-in-chief of the Kuwait Journal of Science, and Prof. Dr. Yaqoub Al-Kandari. - Acting director of the Center for Gulf and Arabian Peninsula Studies, and Prof. Dr. Fayez Al-Dhafiri - Acting editor-in-chief of the Journal of Law, for their wonderful and distinguished performances and presented them with commemorative shields and certificates of appreciation, wishing everyone continued success.
On behalf of the honorable members, Prof. Dr.Othman Al-Khader, the Acting Vice President for Research and Chairman of the Academic Publication Council, thanked Professor Dr. Nawaf Al-Mutairi, Acting President of University, for his attendance at this meeting and encouraging the scientific publishing process at Kuwait University.
